Three Voices by Lisa Bolekaja: Highly recommended. The story starts a little awkwardly, something that I notice in many short stories, but smooths out quickly. The premise builds steadily to an interesting multiple climax. (Heh. That looks kind of naughty.) Not a waste of time, for me.
Also in this issue of Uncanny is a story by Elizabeth Bear about a library. Ms Bear’s story is cute (and also starts awkwardly), but for me it was lightweight library porn or a tribute to early Discworld. Which is fine and all, but didn’t rock my world.
